Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
Matthew 6:9-13
Jesus gave us an example of how to pray through the Lord’s prayer (Matthew 6:9-13). Prayer is speaking to God the Father, through Jesus the Son, by the power of the Holy Ghost. Jesus is our intercessor and speaks to God on our behalf. The Spirit (Holy Ghost) actions God’s commands, and comforts us and confirms God’s message.
How should we pray? Paul tells us to pray in all things (Philippians 4:6-7). We should pray for not only for our needs, but those of our brothers and sisters in Christ (James 5:16).
I heard a pastor say one time, that if you do not know how to pray, or what to pray for, to pick any chapter out of Psalms and pray it as a prayer. I think that is a great idea. Psalms is full of so many wonderful pieces of scripture, and through it’s 150 chapters, there is a subject for all occasions. The Lord is close to all those who call upon Him (Psalms 145:18).
